We do NOT guarantee hatching eggs, whether shipped or purchased locally. There are far too many variables outside of our control for us to be able to make a guarantee concerning egg viability.
I incubate year-round, tracking fertility and hatch rates. I track individual test breedings and keep records of each hen's egg production (color, shape, size, etc.) and fertility.
Eggs are collected multiple times a day, inspected, and taken to my office for storage. My office is temperature (55-60F) and humidity (55%) controlled. Eggs are stored in egg flats and turned multiple times a day. Twice a week I fill our incubators, offer the surplus eggs for sale, and any remaining eggs are utilized in our kitchen. This means that eggs are at most 3 to 4 days old whether they are packed and shipped or placed in our incubators. Eggs are carefully packaged (see packaging info below), and hand delivered to the local post office. After the eggs leave my care, the storage and handling are out of my hands!
Shipping / transporting eggs can destroy a fertilized egg’s ability to start, or if they start, they can be damaged enough that they quit and die. Failure for shipped eggs to start can not be
determined because there’s no way to quantify traveling damage. Shipped eggs are vibrated, tossed, rolled, dropped 4-6’ into hampers, have other boxes land on top, been exposed to heat and cold,
all of which can kill or damage the eggs internally.
Your personal incubators, sanitation, geographical location, temperature, humidity, handling, all effect the viability of the egg.
Candling shows development, no development, or where development stops, but doesn't show whether the egg was fertilized or not. Once an egg has been incubated (hen or incubator) more than a day
you can no longer break that egg open to check fertility and the longer incubated the more likely the blastoderm will be degraded by the incubation process.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND that buying hatching eggs is a RISK. I do everything in my power to ensure eggs arrive safety, but simply cannot guarantee hatch rate. I understand the
frustration of getting a poor hatch rate- I've taken the gamble of shipped eggs myself many times with varying amounts of success. After the eggs leave my care, the storage,
handling, and incubation are out of my hands!
All hatching eggs will be posted on our Farm Facebook page as first-come, first-serve. I do not take payments until I have eggs in hand and ready to ship.
I do not do waitlists! I've tried to do waitlists several times, but every time it turns into me wasting time contacting multiple people and awaiting responses. Time is a very precious commodity
here. My advertising/social networking time is limited to a few minutes here and there throughout the day. Posting as they are available allows those that are interested and have incubator space
open to claim eggs and get them shipped out ASAP.
Eggs are individually bubble wrapped, taped, and placed in alternating cells of an egg flat; foam is placed in empty cells. An empty flat is placed over the filled flat, then taped to form a
'clam shell'. The joined egg flats are then bubble wrapped.
A USPS Priority Box is assembled, seams taped, and bottom is filled with packing material (shredded foam, styrofoam, or packing peanuts depending on availability). The bubble wrapped egg flat is
added to the box, then the box is filled to the top with the packing material. Box is sealed, and labeled.

For shipped eggs I accept Venmo or PayPal via Friends and Family Option Only! Do not send payment unless I message/reply to confirm that you were first to contact me.
Please leave the 'Message' area of the payment blank, or write 1 word: "Marans", "Rainbow", "Silkie", "Welsh", etc.
Absolutely NO refunds will be given UNLESS I contact you informing your eggs are unable to ship due to an issue on my end.
Why is our payment policy/method so strict?
-Because unfortunately I've been too trusting in the past and have been scammed several times over the years by buyers ordering (eggs, soap, chicks, etc.) then back charging via their CC company or PayPal. When PayPal required they ship the 'item' back they've sent an empty box, brick, junk, etc. The effort/cost of filing with small claims to pursue these individuals is exhausting.
This is a small family farm. I work all hours of the day and night, always 'on call' to keep our farm afloat. I take pride in all of the work that we've put into our flocks, herds, products. I'll be darned if I will let scammers or entitled individuals take advantage of me or my family.
